Client Reveal: Dupont Circle Apartment

Capitol Vintage Charm

I have a special place in my heart for rental apartments and homes.  To this day, we still live in a rental.  There is something really challenging to me about taking a place that you can't drastically alter and making it shine.  I guess when you think about it, it is the reason I love vintage so much.  Finding old things, polishing them and making them be what they were meant to be.  (And not to mention doing it at a crazy affordable price point. That's what I am all about).

I also love incorporating items from across the spectrum.  Contemporary mixed with vintage originals.  Vintage inspired pieces mixed with a modern color palate.  Interiors are so personal.  It is your refuge at the end of the a long day in this city that isn't always kind.  It is a piece of you.

I am so excited to share with you pictures of the Dupont Circle apartment I recently helped furnish and decorate.

When Elizabeth returned to DC after some time away, she moved into an apartment to find she didn't really have much in the way of furnishings.  She contacted me in hopes of helping her furnish and decorate her place with some special vintage pieces on a small budget.

Well...you got the right girl.

LIVING ROOM

Elizabeth moved here with some really amazing pieces but needed other items to help tie the rooms together.

As you know, I spend a tremendous amount of time on Craigslist.  I found this pair of amazing cane side chairs on there for $100 for the pair.  They are in great vintage condition. The side pillows are from Target.

Embroidered Oblong Pillow - $19.99

(This picture reminds me to sign up to take a photography class).

I love this mid century inspired couch we found on Wayfair. The rug was a steal from Overstock and really helps tie the room together with the texture and size. The acrylic table I found on Craigslist for $100. It is in fantastic condition with no major scratches on it.  It is also is SO thick.  I love the ones at CB2 but find them to be a bit too thin.

Hammondale Pin Tufted Convertible Sofa - $345.99

Moroccan Trellis Rug - $132

The throw pillows are from Target (see sources below) and the side table under the TV was a Craigslist find for $10 that was painted black.

My absoulte two favorite finds are this lamp that I found thrifting for $20 and this AMAZING credenza we got for $65.

That's right.

I said $65.

It creates a much needed storage spot for all those odds and ends you collect over time. The large and super cool vintage print was an existing piece of artwork she had.

This piece was such a steal. It is in excellent condition and just needed a little wipe down with Pledge to make that wood shine.

The lamp and throw pillows are all from Target.  I would put that lamp in my bathroom, I literally want it everywhere in my house.  Can we just talk about what Target has going on right now?!?! They are beyond killing it.  And speaking of killing it...Goodwill...you almost made me scream out loud in the store when I found that red oil abstract for a whopping $10.

Geo Woven Oversized Throw Pillow - $20.99

Graphite Ogee Jacquard Throw Pillow with Suede Black - $23.39

Brass Floor Lamp - $37.99

This beautiful chest is a family heirloom. I love the warmth it added to the corner and it mimics the warm wood of the credenza that is on the opposite side of the room.  The mirror was another thrift store steal at $60. It is so ordinate and beautiful.

BEDROOM

Beautiful French doors lead you from the living room to the bedroom. Elizabeth already had this gorgeous bed but needed side tables, lighting and art.

I really believe a bedroom should be as comfortable and relaxing as possible. I love how soft and mellow this room turned out.  The side tables are RAST chests from IKEA that are painted black.  We replaced the knobs to help upgrade the look.  The gallery wall is a mixture of thrift store finds, prints she already had and images from Jenny's Print Shop (including that gorgeous picture of the NYC Building!)  The sconces are another steal that look like they should be much more expensive than they are!

RAST Side Table - $34.99

Gold Knobs - $1.75 per knob

Sconces - $59.99

KITCHEN

This kitchen table was another Craigslist score.  Look at this detail! I love the brass edges and the cut out on the chair backs!  The seats were recovered in this great indoor/outdoor fabric.  I love using this fabric on chairs in the kitchen.  it is much more durable and forgiving to stains because the treatments they use are made to withstand the great outdoors.

I am so pleased with how light and airy the whole apartment feels.  But it still has a strong vintage vibe...the perfect cozy nook to enjoy this crazy Washington weather.
