My Modern Take on Dorothy Draper
Earlier this week, I discussed some of my favorite ways you can incorporate Dorothy Draper touches into your own home. Personally, I adore her style. I love the dramatic touches: the shiny metals, the dramatic patterns and bold colors. But, I got to thinking about some of my friends who are much more modern. And all of that drama wouldn't exactly appeal to them.
So, I give to you my vision for a very modern spin on Dorothy Draper touches.
I love this couch. I love that it is a bit of a more traditional twist on the floral patterns Dorothy Draper used her in her designs with the blues and the yellows instead of the pinks and the reds.
Removable wallpaper is my jam, folks
I am not sure how Madam Draper is going to feel about me using curtains from Ikea but I have used these in several client projects and I stand by them.
Bamboo...always and forever. Touches of chinoiserie and Asian influences are often found in her designs.
You can find a vintage pair of brass lamps for a significant amount cheaper at a thrift store. Pop on a black shade (love this one from Target) and you are good to go.
Classic design and pattern
The simplicity but pop of color of these modern chairs really make a statement in this room.
I love these, seriously considering getting them for my house.
Another pop of color and pattern
I love the classic touches of a Federal Mirror
Isn't this just so dreamy? I also love this one too, had a hard time choosing!
This obviously is not intended to be a replica of her work. I wanted to show that adding touches of designers in various aspects of your rooms is as simple as breaking down what admire in their work and replicating it by adding your taste!!! Hope this helps and inspires you to add some Draper touches to your home!
